Biography

Twin Cities Dermatopathology, a Sonic Healthcare dermatopathology practice is privileged to include dermatopathologist Valda N. Kaye, M.D., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Kaye has an impressive international academic background with extensive professional and teaching experience.

Dr. Kaye received her medical degree from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, where she subsequently completed two medical internships. She then served a five-year pathology residency at the South African Institute for Medical Research before relocating to the United States.

Dr. Kaye went on to complete the rest of her postgraduate training at the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, starting with a three-year dermatology residency, followed by a surgical pathology fellowship and a dermatopathology fellowship.

During her medical studies and into her professional career, Dr. Kaye served in a variety of teaching positions at the University of Minnesota Medical School. She worked as an Adjunct Professor of pathology and dermatology courses, and later as Assistant Professor. She was also the Director of the dermatology laboratory, as well as Acting Director of the immunohistochemistry laboratory, in which she also was a Faculty Instructor.

Since 1990, Dr. Kaye has served Twin City Dermatopathology, working in a variety of positions such as Director of Dermatopathology, Laboratory Director, and currently, Staff Dermatopathologist.

Dr. Kaye belongs to five professional medical organizations, such as the American Society of Dermatopathology and the Women’s Dermatologic Society. She holds full medical licensure in six states, including Florida, Minnesota, Nebraska, New York, and Wisconsin. She is board-certified in dermatopathology, dermatology, and anatomic pathology.

Dr. Kaye has authored and co-authored over two dozen abstracts and articles that have subsequently been published in peer-reviewed medical journals. She has frequently delivered oral and poster presentations at professional medical conferences.
