Biography

Twin Cities Dermatopathology, a Sonic Healthcare dermatopathology practice is privileged to include Mark S. Wilke, M.D., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Wilke has an extensive academic background with impressive professional and teaching experience.

After graduating with honors from Rochester Community College in Minnesota with his premedicine degree, Dr. Wilke received his Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry and microbiology from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, graduating cum laude. He then received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School.

Dr. Wilke went on to finish an internal medicine residency, followed by a postdoctoral research fellowship in experimental pathology, both at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He later served a five-year anatomic pathology residency at the University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinics, where he was recipient of both the Watson Award and the Ernst Award for his outstanding research achievements. Here, he subsequently completed a dermatopathology fellowship.

Since concluding his postgraduate training, Dr. Wilke has held a number of teaching positions at the University of Minnesota. He was an Instructor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, and he later served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology and an Adjunct Associate Professor of Dermatology, winning the Distinguished Teacher Award in 1993. He has worked as a Staff Dermatopathologist with Twin Cities Dermatopathology since 1995, currently serving concurrently as Managing Director.

Dr. Wilke is a member of seven professional medical organizations, such as the American Society of Dermatopathology and the Minnesota Medical Association. He holds full medical licensure in seven states, including California, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. He is board-certified in dermatopathology and anatomic pathology.

Dr. Wilke has coauthored nearly three dozen abstracts, articles, and book chapters that have subsequently been published in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks. He has also delivered many presentations and lectures at professional medical conferences and universities.
